DIY Candles and Soap – Made Easy!

I decided to dip my toes into making candles and soap, and I have to admit… I have fully jumped in! I have been an admirer of candles for years, after all there is nothing quite as soothing as a flame gently dancing and seasonal scents filling the room. CandleScience, a local North Carolina company, makes DIY candle and soap creations simple!

Our family has traveled around the world, and there is something about the sense of smell that can transport you back to those places and spark memories. CandleScience has a huge offering of fragrances, giving you the creative outlet to really customize your candles and soaps.

All the supplies you need can be found their website, for both candle and soap making, which is incredibly convenient (especially for a beginner like me!). I have never made either before, and it is safe to say that I am hooked. It is very soothing process – so much so that I may make this creative outlet a side hustle! It is also EASY – yup, I said it. My kids made their own soaps and candles for teacher gifts this year, and it is such a unique and special offering for them.

CandleScience also has a group of experts that will walk you through the process – how amazing is that?! I made soy wax candles, and the video can be found here. Candles add warmth and light to every room, and making them yourself is a relaxing and enjoyable process! I did photograph my process so you can see how simple it is (for all the specifics on temperature and weight, visit the link above on CandleScience website):

I went with fall themed candle scents, as they are some of my favorites. We also got an artificial Christmas tree this year, so I went with a Frasier Fir scent to fill the room and give the feel of a real tree. I love the glow of the candle with Christmas lights twinkling (magic!).

CandleScience may have candle in the name, but they are also top notch in soap making supplies. I feel you can get especially creative with soap making, not just with fragrance, but also mold shapes/sizes and what you put into the soap! A friend of mine made bars of soap with toy cars in them for his children – how fun is that (and encouraging to wash those little hands). I made melt and pour soaps, the tutorial can be found here. I also photographed this process:

It really is THAT simple! CandleScience has truly made the art of candle and soap making simple, which is good news for people like me that do not like complicated things (haha!). So far we have made four batches of candles and 3 batches of soap. We love it so much that we have decided to start a little side hustle, giving my children a creative outlet while also learning about running a small business.

We gave out candles and soap at our Thanksgiving dinner, and it was a huge hit!

Don’t forget to visit CandleScience website, just looking at the fragrances is giving me all the feels! Whether you are looking for a relaxing activity or want to start selling your own line, you will truly enjoy the whole process from start to finish!

So, what are you waiting for? 🙂

  2. Oooh, so very festive! I have always wanted to give candle making a try, but it felt like too much of a learning curve with all the supplies. This is such a great option to try it out without all the challenge of figuring out the supplies yourself!

  4. I think my daughter would do so well with making her own candles. I know she’d love it too. My grandma and I used to make soap. We never did candles but I bet that would have been fun too.
