Nestled in the heart of Luxembourg, the Chateau Urspelt stands as a captivating reminder of the past. This beautifully restored 18th-century castle is a testament to timeless elegance and offers a unique opportunity to step back in time while enjoying modern comfort. During my recent stay at Chateau Urspelt, I was treated to an enchanting experience that surpassed all expectations.
The castle, surrounded by lush gardens, radiates old-world elegance. The sight of this beautifully preserved historical landmark was perfect start to our stay, our family was exhausted after our train from Germany! We were welcomed by a red carpet (literally) and cozy entry with staff who made us feel right at home.
After check-in we headed up to our room to find a beautiful spacious room, decorated with blend of modern comfort and classic design. When I say spacious, our room was huge! We have a soft and comfortable king size bed. Across from the bed was a sitting room with two chairs and a pull-out sofa. Then the piece of the room that really made it sparkle: the bathroom! Our bathroom was luxury at it’s finest with a claw-foot tub and walk in shower. It was the definition of modern meets elegance. We also had a view of the courtyard, where each night we had a show of colors during the sunset.
After getting settled, we headed out to explore the rest of the chateau. We fell in love with the vaulted ceilings, intricate woodwork, and period furnishings. There was an atmosphere that felt both grand and cozy, something I can get on board with! We loved the courtyard and it’s fountain, my daughter and I spent the afternoon reading nearby. It was the perfect way to recharge.
For dinner, we dined at the chateau’s renowned La Gaichel restaurant. The menu featured a delightful selection of local and international dishes prepared with flair (presentation was unlike anything I have ever seen… and the taste was equally incredible). The attentive service and the fine cuisine made for a truly unforgettable dining experience. I would make recommendations, but you literally cannot go wrong here. At lunch we enjoyed a bit more of a casual atmosphere at the Library – order the burger, it is huge and delicious!
Let’s take a minute to discuss the Nuxe Spa… maybe more than a minute because O.M.G. The wellness center offered a range of treatments, and because we were traveling with our children, we opted for two separate massages, giving each of us time to utilize the spa and it’s amenities. Chateau Urspelt truly knowns how to pamper you like royalty. This spa was luxurious and rejuvenating… and you must promise me you will book a treatment, thank me later. The “Red Cavern” pool is unlike anything I have ever experienced… get lost in this peaceful oasis that truly sets your mind to relaxation mode. There is also a whirlpool, sauna, and relaxation room with hot tea to further instill that inner peace and calm.
Our time at Chateau Urspelt in Luxembourg was an enchanting escape from the hustle and bustle. The chateau’s historical charm and luxurious amenities made it the perfect getaway. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a cultural escape, or a break from reality, Chateau Urspelt offers something for everyone. It’s a place where history and modern comfort come together to create an unforgettable experience that will leave you feeling renewed. We visited as a family, and my daughters are still telling everyone about “the time they stayed in a castle”…
