Ideal Off-Site Hotel in Orlando for Families

There seems to be a stigma with staying at off-site hotels in Orlando – and I am here to debunk that stigma with this gem of a resort!  While there can be many pros to staying on-site, local off-site hotels offer many equally compelling reasons as to why guests should stay! Marriott’s Harbour Lake was an oasis with Caribbean charm and colorful Key West cottage style living space. We honestly did not need to leave this resort, there was so much to keep our kids occupied, but it is minutes from Disney’s Magic Kingdom (where we visited while staying). Keep reading to see why this is THE place to stay if you have young kids!

Our Villa

When traveling with our little ones we always prefer to have a separate bedroom and living space.  This way after the kiddos are asleep we can enjoy our evening without worrying about waking them up. Marriott’s Harbour Lake offers spacious one- and two-bedroom villa rentals feature fully equipped kitchens, separate living and dining areas, large screened balconies, and a washer/dryer.

Having a kitchen in our villa is SO helpful – we can have a relaxing breakfast before our day, prepare lunches to take to the parks, and not have to worry about spending a ridiculous amount of money on eating out.

We had a two-bedroom villa -one with two queen beds and the other with a king – and two generously sized bathrooms. Our balcony had a beautiful view of the water and fountain, and the interior had a modern beachy feel – we loved the decor! I will always remember the morning when we surprised our girls that we were going to Disney in this villa – they were sitting on the comfy couch with bed-head and their eyes lit up!

The Amenities

Earlier we said you would not need to leave the resort – now let us tell you why! Family fun is a top priority here, and boy does it show. There is a 22,000-square-foot miniature golf course and an on-site water playground that is HUGE. It is like a water park in the resort. But it doesn’t end there – Shipwreck Landing, an exciting themed pool area featuring the incredible pirate ship, complete with water slides and water cannons is at the pool just a few steps away. Our daughters couldn’t get enough of the water slides. 5pm seemed to be a peak time here, just something to take note of (we prefer it less crowded since our kids are so little). And bonus – they also have an arcade indoors!

They have a patio bar and grill which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. As well as a kiosk that has snacks and pool toys.

They have a 24 hour gym – but we did not use it (no, we do not work out on vacation, or any other time for that matter).

We were so thankful to be hosted by Marriott’s Harbour Lake on this stay, I have never seen my kids so relaxed anywhere before – note the photos below!

  1. It’s been years since we’ve been to Florida and I’m dying to take my kids back! I am definitely pinning this for later, my kids would go bananas for that water park!

  2. We looked at this place, but I don’t remember why we decided against it. It’s absolutely perfect! Did they offer a shuttle to the parks?

  3. This looks ideal for the whole family. The pools look great. We have to have our own kitchen when we travel, eating out with children can get so expensive and stressful.
