When it’s time to redo your bedroom, it can be difficult to envision what your room can become. A little inspiration can go a long way. If you have a room that is lacking personality, a little color, accessories, and lighting can transform a space!
As previously mentioned in my master bathroom makeover post, we bought a house that had already been gutted by the previous owner. I had a blank canvas, which was both exciting and intimidating! Endless options had me pinning through all hours of the night. I noticed a pattern in what I liked, and then did my own designing.
I will break it down by each of our rooms, so you can see where my vision met reality!
Bedroom #1
This room belongs to my older daughter. She is very into bright colors with a princess feel. So let’s look at the before and after photos:
The walls were blue, and it was a very plain box room. First thing is first – we painted the walls Abalone Shell by Sherwin Williams. I love the muted pink color, it can go with so many colors.
Next, I found a canopy bed off Facebook Marketplace and painted it a champagne color, then tufted the headboard (it is actually fairly easy and I will do a blog post on that soon!). Now I needed to add some bright colors, but how? Decals my friend! I used Victoria Florals by Urban Walls and could not be happier with the end result. They were so easy to design and apply, and it really makes the room pop. The flowers match my girls personality and she was over the moon!

We have a Snooze Mattress by Moonlight (plush) and it is SO comfortable. She sleeps better than ever, and we love that is is made in the USA. Then I added some colorful accent pillows to her bed, pampas grass, a Himalayan salt lamp (found here – I just love that orange light at night!) and some start twinkle lights (found here). I also found a really cute weighted blanket for kids to match the floral pattern by YnM (link here). I also got her a personalized Star Map of the date she was born, and it was a really great touch (by Canvas Discount).

Bedroom #2
This is my younger daughters room, and she likes blues/greens. Let’s see the before and after photos:
Before… After!
Again the walls were blue and she wanted them the same as her sister, pink! So how to add blues and greens to a pink room? Easy peasy.
I found her a nice bed on Facebook Marketplace as well and painted/tufted it in some beautiful blues. Bohemian Palms decals by Urban Walls had gorgeous muted tones that would tie together all the colors of the room. I love how they turned out, and I feel like I am on vacation every time I step into her room!

I put a Serta mattress by Serta at Lowes in her room, as she likes her mattress medium firmness and it is SO comfortable. Accent pillows, linen curtains, and twinkle lights were the finishing touch to this bohemian paradise! I also added a fun pattern weighted blanket by YnM that I knew would make her smile(found here). A tiny surprise was a blown up photo from her photoshoot with a “unicorn” and she was SO excited (made by Canvas Discount).

I also got both my girls new doorknobs for their closets – something to add just a little bit more design! They can be found here.

Bedroom #3
Here it is folks, the master bedroom! My little escape… haha who am I kidding, my kids are often all over the place in here! Let’s look at the before and after photos!
The room was already a grey and I loved the color, so we kept it! I am all about neutral tones and accent colors that I can change out whenever I am looking for some change. We have a Snooze Mattress by Moonlight (firm) and I LOVE it! It makes it hard to get out of bed when you are that cozy and comfortable.

Linens are something I invest in, because I love soft silky sheets! Cozy Earth Bedding makes the worlds softest bamboo sheets, and they are incredible! If you think you know soft… think again. They are also tested without harmful chemicals, hypoallergenic, and temperature regulating. Go ahead and order yours here, thank me later! (Use discount code DOMINIQUE40 for 40% off!)
Our oversized comforter is from Byourbed, finally a king comforter that actually fits! I selected the Natural Loft Down Alternative comforter with the Glacier Gray duvet cover. The chunky knit weighted blanket is by YnM and can be found here.
My final touch in a room is always live plants (I am a houseplant addict), they really just brighten up a space!

So there you have it! You really can get so creative with bedrooms and if you are thinking of changing up your bedroom… DO IT!
I love all of these transformations. Sometimes, all it takes is a few small changes to make something great happen!

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
